Understanding the Overview Dashboard

What Is the Overview Dashboard?

The Overview is the first screen you see when you log in to SympleHost. It gives you a snapshot of how your rental business is performing — revenue, occupancy, bookings, and guest activity — all on one page.

Think of it as the control panel for your day: a quick glance tells you what needs attention right now.

How to Get to the Dashboard

Click Overview at the top of the sidebar. If you’ve just logged in, you’re already here.

Understanding the KPI Cards

At the top of the dashboard, you’ll see four cards showing your key performance indicators (KPIs — the numbers that tell you how your business is doing):

Total Revenue

Shows how much money you’ve earned in the selected time period. The small chart below the number shows the trend — whether revenue is going up or down compared to the previous period. A green percentage means growth; red means a decline.

Average Daily Rate (ADR)

This is the average price per night across your bookings. It’s calculated by dividing total revenue by the number of booked nights. A bar chart below shows how this has changed over time.

Occupancy Rate

The percentage of your available nights that are booked. Displayed as a donut chart — the more filled in, the higher your occupancy. If you see 75%, that means three out of every four available nights are reserved.

Bookings

Shows your total booking count, broken down into Confirmed and Pending reservations. This helps you quickly see how many bookings still need your attention.

Filtering Your Dashboard

You can narrow the dashboard to show specific time periods or individual properties:

By Date

Use the date presets at the top of the page:

  • Today — just today’s numbers
  • Last 7 days — the past week
  • Last 30 days — the past month
  • This Month — from the 1st of the current month
  • Last Month — the full previous month

By Property

Click the property filter dropdown to select a specific listing. This is useful when you want to see how a particular property is performing on its own. Select All Properties to go back to the full view.

Timeline Sections

Below the KPI cards, you’ll find detailed breakdowns of daily activity:

Check-In / Check-Out Timeline

Shows upcoming and recent guest arrivals and departures. Each entry displays the guest name, the property they’re staying at, the time, and their status. Use this to prepare for today’s turnovers.

Payment Activity

Lists recent payment transactions — guest name, amount, status (completed, pending, or failed), and payment type. Quickly spot any failed payments that need follow-up.

Revenue Breakdown by Property

Shows which properties are generating the most revenue, displayed as a ranked list with percentages. Helpful for understanding where your income is concentrated.

Occupancy by Channel

Shows where your bookings are coming from — Airbnb, Booking.com, direct bookings, etc. This helps you understand which channels are driving the most reservations.

When to Use the Dashboard

  • Every morning — Check today’s check-ins, check-outs, and any pending payments
  • Weekly — Review the “Last 7 days” view to spot trends in revenue and occupancy
  • Monthly — Compare “This Month” to “Last Month” to see if you’re growing
  • Per property — Filter to a single listing to evaluate its individual performance

Troubleshooting

The dashboard shows all zeros

If you’ve just created your account, the dashboard won’t have data until you’ve added listings and bookings. Add your first listing and create a test booking to see the dashboard come to life.

Numbers don’t match what I expect

Check your date filter — you may be looking at a different time period than you think. Also verify your timezone in Settings → General, as this affects which day bookings fall into.
